Avon High School Eagles Secure Narrow Victory Over North Ridgeville Rangers
In a thrilling Southwestern Conference basketball showdown, the Avon High School Eagles clinched a nail-biting victory over the North Ridgeville Rangers with a final score of 44-42 on December 18, 2024, at North Ridgeville High School.
The game, marked by a spectacular comeback, saw the Eagles overturn a halftime deficit where they trailed 16-15. With significant contributions from junior Abigail Owens, who scored 17 points, sophomore Alaina Pagan with 9 points, and freshman Jayde Palmer adding 8 points, the Eagles showcased their depth and determination. The team outpaced the Rangers 29 to 26 in the second half, a key factor in their win.
Coach Castrilla shared his thoughts on the game, stating,
"It’s never easy coming back from a margin in the second half, but it’s great that the team was able to get the win as it proves the team never gives up and fights through adversity and every possession."
He also expressed his anticipation for the next challenge against the reigning champions, the Bulldogs, at Avon High School on December 21.
"I will make sure they are up to the challenge and the team respects the Bulldogs' abilities,"
he added.
The Eagles now stand with an impressive record of 8-1 as they prepare to take on Olmsted Falls in their next match, looking to continue their strong performance this season.
