Regina's Track & Field Team Clinches 2nd Place at Varsity Invite

In a challenging Varsity Invite held on April 1, 2025, at Warren Woods Tower, the Regina High School Saddlelites Track and Field team showcased their resilience and skill, securing a commendable 2nd place finish under tough weather conditions.
Competing against multiple schools, including Ann Arbor Fr. Gabriel Richard, St. Catherine of Siena, Austin Catholic, and Warren Woods Tower, Regina's team braved the cold and windy weather to deliver outstanding performances. Senior Elizabeth Ambroggio led the way by winning the 800 meter race with a notable time of 2:42.31. Additionally, her teammate Victoria Millett displayed exceptional versatility, clinching the first position in the 100 meter hurdles at 18.95 seconds, and second in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 56.41. Millett also earned second in the long jump, recording a leap of 13 feet 6 inches.
The field events further highlighted the depth of the team's talent. Junior Bailee Roths secured third place in the long jump alongside Millett. Sophomore Josie Evoy set a personal best in the shot put, throwing a distance of 23 feet 1 inch, while Junior Elizabeth Kemp made her mark with a discus throw of 40 feet 6 inches.
"I thought we performed well for our first meet, particularly when considering the weather conditions. We did a lot of good things, and found a lot of things that we can build on for the future,"
remarked Coach Gregg Golden, reflecting on the team's performance and looking ahead to future competitions.
The Saddlelites are now gearing up for their next challenge at the Westfield Girls All-Comers Open at Ann Arbor Pioneer High School on April 5, 2025. They will face competitors from Fr. Gabriel Richard, Ann Arbor Pioneer, Notre Dame Academy, St. Ursula, and Ypsilanti Arbor Prep in what promises to be another exciting event.
