Regina High Saddlelites Garner Spots at Varsity Track Invite Despite Challenging Conditions

In an event marked by rainy and cold weather, the Regina High School Saddlelites exhibited commendable perseverance and skill at the Varsity Track Invite hosted at Ann Arbor Pioneer on April 5, 2025. The Saddlelites, a stalwart girls' track and field team, concluded the invitational with a total of 14 points, securing the 5th place among a competitive field that included notable schools such as Ann Arbor Pioneer, Fr. Gabriel Richard, St. Ursula, Notre Dame Academy, and Ypsilanti Arbor Preparatory.
Several athletes from Regina stood out with significant individual achievements in various track events. Sabrina Sokol earned a respectable 9th place in the 200m dash with a time of 29.58 seconds. Notably, Elizabeth Ambroggio clinched 3rd place in the 800m race, clocking in at 2:39.36, while Natalie Lentine finished 4th in the grueling 3200m with a time of 13:13.61. Maddie Yezback not only took 7th place in the 300 high hurdles but also set a personal record with her time of 58.94 seconds. Additionally, a combined effort in the 4x400m relay saw Elizabeth Ambroggio, Maddie Yezback, Mia Schlender, and Sabrina Sokol take 5th place with a collective time of 4:52.59.
Looking forward, the Regina Saddlelites are set to compete in their next track and field event at Royal Oak High School on April 12, 2025. They will face a series of opponents including Berkley, Rochester Adams, Troy Athens, Clawson, Rochester Hills Stoney Creek, Warren Mott, New Baltimore Anchor Bay, & Royal Oak. With their recent performances setting a solid foundation, the team is enthusiastic about the upcoming challenges.
